Review: Watchmen proved to be captivating film, one definitely worth seeing. I must say, I was not excited to watch it first. It's based on a graphic novel by Alan Moore. His widely regarded as the best graphic novel ever. Movies that are adapted to form a great literary works tend not to be good. The film also not a large budget. More money thrown into making Iron Man (2008) and The Dark Knight (2008), for example. It does not matter though because Watchmen hits all the comic book movies in terms of professionalism. Zack Snyder is a good action director. Just look at 300 (2007) for a proof. With Watchmen he has shown that he is just a good director in total. He works well with actors. The plot of the film is almost universally excellent. Everyone gets to shine. Even Malin Akerman had its moments. It is a character feels like a throwaway. All this is further complemented by the best choice in costumes. No one can deny that the heroes in Watchmen looks cold. CGI is also excellent. Compassion Doctor Manhattan, Nite Owl airships, everything looks so. Snyder has organized some really impressive dramatic scenes. The use of music is inspired. The score by Tyler Bates is obviously convenient, but the choice of songs may surprise some people. I, however, think that the songs are just right. It was good to hear Bob Dylan The Times they change the start and Leonard Cohen's First We Take Manhattan at the end. What I like the movie even more is his photo of Larry Fong. The appearance of each decade has been captured perfectly. 1980's are a little dark in the films alternate reality nonetheless. Nuclear war seems close, and society is sick. To all this must be added the cute look thats also in the graphic novel. There are many images in Watchmen, which is memorable, even unforgettable. There are so many interesting details that I could not wait to watch the movie more than once to pick up what I missed the first viewing. Fortunately, Snyder does not change the policy, and observations of the graphic novel for the film. Some parts are missing but the work is still a thought-provoking two and a half hours. Moreover, it has a clear story. Here's a comic book movie for mature audiences. It stands over the other comic movies because his intelligent and because it deals with some of the most important issues, even mankinds existence. Guardians were expertly done, that's about it. I respect him and I like it more than any other superhero movie. He receives a high recommendation from me.
